Meet our 10K Winner

There are times in business, and in life, when a little financial boost would be incredibly welcome. And for Cakes By Jez, the winner of Tradebank Canada’s 10k for my business, this boost could not have come at a better time.

CONGRATULATIONS TO CAKES BY JEZ!

Cakes by Jez is a rapidly growing baking business located in Keswick, Ontario. The owner Jeysabel Pearson has been a member of BarterPay since May 2016, and in that time she has fully embraced barter and saved on many aspects of her everyday life. When BarterPay announced their 10k for your Business contest Jeysabel jumped at the opportunity. Jez’s submission beat out almost 100 entries from across Canada, and when you read it, it is clear to see why.

All the pieces were falling into place quickly for Jeysabel, she was outgrowing her rental space, expecting her second child, the perfect store front became available, and she won the 10k for your business contest! The timing couldn’t have worked out better. Having just welcomed Connor into the world, Jez is taking the time to renovate her new storefront before her grand opening planned for December 2017.

She plans to use as much barter as possible for her new storefront and has a large wish list to work on. She needs a new sign for her store, paint, lighting, bistro style tables and chairs, a vanity, mirror and faucet for her bathroom, shelving, window decals, a wall built and much more! It is time to Barter-Reno her business, and we have a little over a month to do it.

We are still looking for businesses to get in on the Barter-Reno so if you are sitting on inventory you want to move or are a tradesman with time to fill in the next month, give us a call and Jez might have work for you. Cakes by Jez is going to become the premier bake shop in Georgina. I am so happy that I could be a small part of her journey, I hope to see many more local businesses joining in too.
