- helping the environment
- using business waste to get REAL things that you need
- keeping cash in the bank and still getting what you want
- boosting your business’ bottom line
- helping solve the spare capacity issues many have
- changing lives right in your own neighbourhood
- becoming a real life superhero
Watch and learn….
How It Works…In Under 2 Minutes
Everyone knows what barter is, but we usually think of the one-to-one swapping that people do on the fly. Like the farmer who has chickens but really wants some hay and doesn’t want to put out the money to get it. He offers up a bunch of chickens for some hay and hopes the swap is fairly even, and definitely hopes the other guy keeps his end of the bargain.
In an ideal world, everyone is fair, everyone keeps their end of the deal, and swaps are made where both parties are tickled pink about it. But we don’t live in that world and we all know deals that have gone sour.
We all know of situations where the other guy didn’t keep up his end of the bargain. However, we all still wish we didn’t have to spend money to get the hay, or whatever we are in need of, but how do we trust it will go well, and that we’ll come out actually winning?
SOLUTION: Make it organized, and multi-directional so people aren’t forced to barter one-to-one, because a print shop might need their roof fixed, but the roofer doesn’t want that much printing, so often those deals don’t happen…but they could, and both the printer and roofer could come out winning. And the organized part – there should be accountability and a system that keeps track of everything.
How? Does that even exist? Watch this video and find out! 🙂
How I Bartered For A Meeting With Gary Vee!
The EPIC story of how John Porter, Founder & CEO of BarterPay, bartered his way to a meeting with Gary Vaynerchuk, Vayner Media, in New York City.
BarterPay Explained!
The tragic reality is that there is SO MUCH business waste in the world, spare capacity that is not being used or monetized. Excess inventory sitting on shelves, taking up valuable warehouse space that should be used for fast-moving inventory. Downtime, empty spaces on the calendar where you really could easily throw in another job to fill it up, or you would be really happy to fill that empty table or room. It would be amazing if it wasn’t so hard to do. It takes a TON OF WORK to get the business that you do have!
What can be done about it? What if there was some service out there that would send you brand new business, BRAND NEW CUSTOMERS (basically hand-deliver them!) and then work like crazy to get you what you need or want in return.
Want printing but don’t want to spend money on it? Want a vacation, or a dinner out, or clothes, or a new deck, or thousands of other things but you would love to not dip into your bank account to do it?
How amazing would it be to use BUSINESS WASTE to get what you want instead of spending your money for it?

One Voice One Team Saves over $120K!
Hi everybody! My name is John Porter, Founder and CEO with BarterPay. Today I have the pleasure of sitting down with Orlando Bowen, executive director and founder of One Voice One Team….
What’s sort of your journey to One Voice One Team and what do you guys do and how you help the community and kids and that sort of thing just give us the overall kind of overview that’d be great.
Orlando: Absolutely, so one of the things that we believe strongly is that young people are at risk of not realizing their potential the potential to to see what they have to offer but their ability to pour into other people’s lives and to make a difference there so for us it’s it’s doing what we can to empower and equip young people to see beyond their current circumstances, challenges or what life situations so that they could know, not think, but so that they can KNOW that they have the gifts the skills and tools to be able to make a difference for themselves and for others so we do that through assemblies, workshops, summer camp, service activities, where they see themselves actually in action in service making a difference and meeting the needs of their communities.
John: How have you been able to utilize Barter Credits™ and we’re a charity too. Our foundation specifically likes to support the administration and overhead costs of a charity which is actually more of an anomaly because most donors like to see their funds go straight to the end costs whether it be the backpacks for the kids or buying a certain number of meals and that sort of thing but we’re a charity that really just funds administration overhead so the cash donations they received actually go to their end cause – not putting as much money towards expenses.
When I scan your account here Orlando I know that we’ve hit almost 125 000 in Barter Credits™ that have flowed from our members to our foundation back out to One Voice One Team and already been utilized back within the marketplace to offset some of those costs they’re things like SEO and printing and business machines and backpacks and all sorts of different things but maybe you can just touch on some of the things that you’ve been able to get through the network.
Orlando: I don’t even know how obviously you could put a price on it but some of the impacts have been priceless in terms of how it the effect it has on community like real effect we’ve been able to some of the backend things that we’ve been able to acquire like banners and signage, you know from a personnel perspective, and expertise around SEO and marketing, website development and how they work together has been so powerful. It’s really been a game changer for us in terms of our ability to not just do the work but to tell the story about the work that’s being done……
and the expertise that has been made available through barter has been transformative for us…..
it’s just we’ve been able to really level up in the way not just the way that we operate behind the scenes but what the end users experience is because of some of those items yeah amazing! I love seeing this list. I mean I literally have to scroll my mouse for a good 60 seconds here to get through all the transactions that have been put together!
Watch video for more from Orlando’s amazing testimony…

BarterPay Arrives In Saint John, NB!

BarterPay Arrives in Saint John
–Businesses Can Barter Goods and Services to Maximize Revenue
Using Innovative Platform–
–Saint John Branch of Habitat for Humanity Selected as First Local Charity Eligible for Portion of $2 Million in Funding from the BarterPay It Forward Foundation®–
SAINT JOHN, NB—BarterPay, a national bartering platform that helps Canadian businesses barter available time, space and idle inventory, has arrived in Saint John. By posting idle inventory and downtime on the BarterPay platform, businesses are able to exchange it for other products or services they need in an organized way. BarterPay is rolling out its service across Canada, and recently announced partnerships with the Retail Council of Canada, Restaurants Canada, Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Imagine Canada.
BarterPay helps Canadian businesses convert, at full retail value, their unsold time, space or idle inventory – their ‘spare capacity’ – into Barter Credits™. Instead of typical one-to-one bartering, BarterPay is a one-to-many ecosystem where BarterPay members are able to exchange what they have to get what they need in an organized way. Through Barter Credits™, businesses can trade their unsold time and space and idle inventory for other goods and services and acquire things they need at their wholesale cost of goods rather than dipping into cash. One Barter Credit™ equals one Canadian dollar for valuation, accounting and tax purposes and they can be exchanged for any goods or services offered by other businesses who are also on the BarterPay network. Barter Credits™ do not expire and are recognized as a cash equivalent by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
“Bartering makes sense for businesses. With the BarterPay system, business owners can improve their cashflow and profitability by bartering downtime and excess goods and services to acquire things their company needs – everything from office furniture to printing to professional services – on a secure network,” said John Porter, BarterPay Founder and CEO. “As the BarterPay ecosystem expands across Canada, the range of products and services is growing all the time which makes it more valuable to all businesses, especially as we recover from the pandemic.”
Saint John residents Vanessa and Anson Darville are heading up the Saint John branch of BarterPay. “Bartering has been part of business since the very beginning but now with BarterPay, it has been professionalized, scaled up and aligned with CRA requirements. By using the BarterPay platform, businesses can fully maximize the revenue potential of their inventory or time, improving cashflow and bottom-line performance. Bartering at scale is an idea whose time has come,” said Anson Darville.
BarterPay is committed to the communities where it operates. The BarterPay It Forward Foundation®, the company’s charitable wing, makes it easy for companies to donate Barter Credits™ to worthwhile causes while receiving charitable tax receipts. Up to $2 million in Barter Credits™ will be donated to Saint John area charities. Anson Darville noted that the Saint John branch of Habitat for Humanity has been selected as the first local charity eligible for funding from the BarterPay It Forward Foundation®.
More information about the BarterPay It Forward Foundation® is available here.
